Staffordshire
The potters and manufactories in this county are treated separately under the various towns and villages. The towns of Burslem, Cobridge, Etruria, Fenton, Hanley, Lane Delph, Lane End, Longton, Shelton, Stoke, and Tunstall are among those included under Staffordshire. In 1786 there were more than 80 different potters in this district, by 1802 there were more than 150.

Stoke-on-Trent (1-83)
Josiah Spode established in 1784 after potting from 1770. Josiah II owner in 1797. Wm. Copeland was was a partner but died in 1826. Josiah II died in 1827 and Josiah III in 1829. The name then changed from Spode, Son & Copeland to Copeland & Garrett, late Spode in 1833. After 1847 the firm became W. T. Copeland (Copeland, late Spode). In 1867 it was W. T. Copeland & Sons.

Thomas Minton established a factory here in 1793, Herbert Minton and John Boyle operated it from 1836 to 1842. Hollins & Campbell were the proprietors before 1868. Colin Minton Campbell continued after that date. Porcelain was first made in 1800 and majolica in 1850.

1-3 Early marks in red, blue, black, puce or gold. Sometimes impressed.
3A Impressed on early wares.
4,5 Printed.
6,7 Early 19th cenutry. On Ironstone.
8-10 Early 19th century. Printed.
11,12 Spode, Son & Copeland. Impressed or printed before 1833.
13,14 Copeland & Garrett. 1833- 1847. These marks generally accompanied by the name of the pattern.
15 After 1847.
16-20 Copeland & Garrett. 1833-1847.
