( Originally Published Early 1900's ) ABOUT 1457-1504 The Virgin is seated holding the Child on her knee, Saint Joseph is at the right, and a child angel at the left. Two diminutive, diaphanous cherubs hold a veil back of the Virgin's head. In the background are half-ruined arches through the openings of which is a landscape of strangely formed rocks and distant hills. The picture belongs among the later productions of the artist, its date being about 1500. I t was for many years in the collection of Madame de Couriss at Dresden. |
