Weakfish

Weakfish, member of the croaker family, are quite prevalent in northern waters, but are seldom taken in this area, and then only from the banks offshore. They possess the same general shape as Salt-Water Trout (above) except that trout are more rounded in the belly and are of silvery-lavender in coloring about the head and pectoral fin and is sparingly spotted with large round black spots, usually more numerous from mid-section to the tail; whereas the Weakfish is practically solid in color except a brownish tinge on back with close mottled markings and prominent bright yellow anal, pectoral and ventral fins.
